turquoise tassel earrings on a budget

I’ve been loving the tassel jewelry trend this summer! While I’m still coveting these Lisi Lerch earrings I’ve found an alternate for much less! Yes, you read that correctly finally a more affordable version of turquoise tassel earrings! turquoise tassel earrings on a budget These acid fringe tassel earrings from BaubleBar are so pretty and at a much friendlier price point. They surprisingly are light and really, you hardly feel them at all! You should have no problem wearing them all day or night.

YSL touche eclat blur perfector review

I was sent the “it” products of the summer. This stuff is selling out everywhere and I was lucky to have it sent to me from Influenster (I received it complimentary for testing purposes). I’ve been using the primer and blur perfector for a couple of weeks so let me explain a little bit about them!
YSL touche eclate blur perfectors review

First of all the packaging is beautiful and right in step with the rest of YSL products. My mom has their concealer pen which is absolutely amazing so I had high hopes for these products.

The blur primer is pretty great. You just need a little dabble or it could make you feel greasy. I love these gold shimmery flakes in the bottle. It’s oil based and really does smooth your skin, but again, only use a little bit. I think that it did make my skin look more luminous but it definitely couldn’t counteract the redness from rosacea so just keep that in mind if you also struggle with strong discoloration like I do. It also has a really nice lightly floral scent. Overall I think that it did help my makeup stay in place and go on smooth. YSL touche eclate blur perfectors reviewThe other product is the Touche Eclat Blur Perfector. It’s a balm that supposedly turns into a powder to blur your imperfections. Well I have to say that I was serioulsy disappointed when I placed it on with the puff they give you and it literally WIPED my makeup off. No matter how gentle your touch it would wipe everything off.

I tried it with a large powder brush and had way better luck just patting around, almost as a highlighter. I’ve been doing this for several days and really prefer this method. It gives a little luminosity without wiping off your foundation.
YSL touche eclate blur perfectors reviewHave you tried this products yet? I’m interested to hear what you think about them. To see what others think follow along with  #YSLToucheEclat on facebook, twitter and instagram!

Thanks to influenster for sending these products for testing.

flair for your hair!

I’ve been so excited for this post! I know this might seem crazy but you must must must take a little journey over to the Elizabeth Heard Etsy shop and pick yourself up a barrette. These are on heavy rotation right now because they are not only charming but practical, and actually hold your hair perfectly!
elizabeth heard barrettes , etsy shops, elephant barrette, game day accessoriesLet me tell you a little bit about these because I stumbled across these on instagram first and went down the rabbit hole of every insta picture I could find (@elizabethheardbarrettes). There are “party animals” like this elephant (perfect to pair with Lilly Pulitzer!) and a rhino and seriously beautiful agate ones – keep scrolling to get a peek of those. I always had bows and barrettes in my hair growing up (did you see my extensive bows here?) and this is the perfect way to add a little flair (as Elizabeth has coined: flair for your hair!) without looking like a child!

Elizabeth Heard is an independent line of carefully crafted hair accessories. Created by designer, Elizabeth Heard White, the accessories are designed for women to find their finishing touch by adding a dose of flair to the hair. Each barrette from Elizabeth Heard is individually hand-crafted with traditional accessory making techniques and inspected for flaws before heading out the door. The line pays tribute to the designer’s middle name as well as the name of her grandmother, the queen of flair.

Sometimes when you order things on etsy its a little sloppy. Maybe the edges aren’t perfectly hemmed, something isn’t totally glued straight, etc. That is not the case with Elizabeth Heard Barrettes. These look like you picked them up at Nordstrom! There is no hint that these are anything less than perfectly manufactured. They feel totally solid, don’t slip down your hair like some barrettes can do. It’s not that I was really surprised, its just…thats not always the case! And look how cute the etching is on the back!

A little introduction to Elizabeth, the lady behind the barrettes: I have an unabashed obsession with hair barrettes, and have since childhood. From swimming to sleeping, you would rarely find me without one. My love for barrettes stayed in tact but noticed a niche in the market for quality and unique hair accessories. I always dreamed of starting my own line and attended Parsons School of Design after graduating from SMU in Dallas, TX where I was able to hone my skills for crafting custom hair wear. My barrettes began as a fun personal passion and have recently evolved into a small online and wholesale business. I am so grateful for the women with flair who find their finishing touch with one of my barrettes and am really excited for what’s to come.

styling my boho fringe necklace

At as GOLD as it gets we believe that life’s adventures should be fully accessorized! I love finding pieces that dress up my wardrobe and make it seem new and fresh on a budget.
urban peach boho fringe necklaceOne of my favorite places to shop is Urban Peach. They are a small online boutique and they have so many fashionable pieces all at amazing prices. It’s also a great place to pick up small gifts for your girlfriends or yourself! I’ve been shopping here for years and one thing that I love about Urban Peach is they have items that are really trendy at the moment.
How many times have you had to wait to find an affordable piece that rivals the on-trend piece? This is where you should be checking because they constantly introduce new pieces that are right on trend. From someone who tends to turn faux gold jewelry, their pieces hold up really nicely for costume jewely. I really want to try some of their watches next!

I styled this boho fringe necklace for the office  but I can’t wait to style it with a white shirt and jean shorts for the weekend.

I love this necklace because it has a hint of a boho/care-free feel but really looks chic enough to wear to the office. It also comes in turquoise and white if thats more your coloring! urban peach boho fringe necklace | as GOLD as it gets BLOG

turquoise slab necklace + a dirty little secret

I wanted a turquoise slab necklace for a really long time. I wanted it to have a little variation in length, large slabs with texture and needed it to look glam, not southwest. It took me SO long to find the perfect one…I’m talking about 2 years! Well once I got this gem (ha!) I was so excited to wear it and I just KNEW I would get so many compliments because it was exactly what I had been looking for… turquoise slab necklace But you know what. No one compliments it. NO ONE. I couldn’t figure out…like can they not see these gorgeous slabs that I searched for? Are they so dazzled by the words coming out of my mouth they can’t see my necklace? And I realized that I don’t really care. Which is hard because I want people to like me and think I have nice things and if I’m honest I want people to want what I have. Isn’t that so ugly? Yikes!  This necklace has taught me a lot. And not that I REALLY like it paired with hot pink (which I do). But having nice things is lovely but you need to spend money (and time) investing in things that you really like; don’t just do them for others. I wear this necklace all the time (it also looks great with navy) and this necklace actually brings me a lot of joy even if it doesn’t result in compliments because it took a lot of effort to find exactly what I wanted but it also reminds me to do things or buy things because I want too – not for the reactions of others.

In case you like the necklace and happen to be on the hunt for one I bought mine on Etsy here. If you need apothecary jars check out these and these.
