what i’ve learned from blogging

I’ve been blogging for a couple of years and I’ve learned some things.
what i've learned from blogging, blogging tips, things blogging taught me

Improved my overall tech game. You have to stay up on all things tech if you want your blog to ever be remotely successful (page views, monetization, partnerships, etc). Β While I’ve always been pretty tech-savvy, blogging challenges me to be creative and be constantly thinking about “how can I do that” and “what would really make this better is if…”. Whether learning about SEO or twiddling around in photoshop I’ve learned a bunch of things that I actually aid my day job.

Girls are mean. I thought I had an idea, I was sorority president and while my sisters are lovely, sometimes there are mean girls, or groups of mean girls, you have to encounter. Luckily, I haven’t been the focus of the interweb mean girls but some of my favorite bloggers are and it makes me truly reevaluate my blogging. I’ve heard how my friends rant about bloggers and it’s hard to put yourself out there when you really are opening yourself up to a lot of criticism.

Confidence! I can’t even tell you how amazing it is to see those page views tick up and up or to get a response from someone saying how they love your blog and are willing to take a chance on you. It’s the best feeling.

These are just a few of the things that blogging has taught me. Anyone else in the same boat?

  1. I love your blog! Keep doing what you have started and keep on doing you. Let the sayings of others be your constructive advice instead of destructive one. Stay strong. X.

  2. Great post! I’ve been fortunate to avoid any mean girl responses from my blog but what I’ve gained most from blogging is confidence and a feeling of community. I’ve made so many friends online and IRL through my blog and had some pretty spectacular experiences from my blog. It’s certainly a lot of work but I wouldn’t trade it for anything! πŸ™‚ #bloggingboost XO

    • You’re absolutely right. The other bloggers are really phenomenal and its so neat to have people just like you comment and share what you think on my little space of the internet! It really is a community!

  3. Yes people can be mean on the internet. That’s where confidence comes into play and not taking things personally. Hard lessons to learn but blogging about a topic you are passionate about is so rewarding it makes up for the bumps along the way. Awesome post! Thanks for sharing. πŸ™‚

  4. I’d have to say that I have learned all of these things from blogging! There will be mean people everywhere – but I try to just ignore them and focus on the positives!

  5. Beginning my blogging journey has really forced me to become self aware of my goals and abilities. I think you nailed this! It’s great that we are also given an opportunity to be caring and supportive of each other so we can try to stomp out all the “mean” in the world! πŸ™‚

  6. I love tinkering with the tech stuff too πŸ™‚ Thankfully I haven’t run into the mean girls yet, but it’s sad how many places they do turn up.

    • You would think they would have better things to do! They are probably just jealous, but gosh some are really harsh. Luckily I’ve just had really supportive people but its such a shame people act like that!

  7. Im sorry you’ve had no so great encounters with other bloggers. Its a community that’s supposed to support one another. But Im glad blogging has taught you valuable things ❀ You have a lovely blog!
